شرح زمن الماضي المستمر

past continuous
The past continuous tense

التكوين
Form

يصاغ الماضي المستمر من (verb to (Be في الماضي + الفعل + ing.


تكوين الماضي المستمر :
  • الاثبات:
(فاعل + was / were + فعل + ing )
I was studying all night yesterday.
  • النفي:
( فاعل + wasn't / weren't + فعل + ing )
He wasn't sleeping yesterday morning.
  • السؤال:
→ أداة استفهام (wh) + was / were +فاعل + ing.

ex: What were you doing when I phoned you?

الاستخدام
Use

  • يعبر عن حدث كان مستمراً في وقت محدد في الماضي مع الكلمات : 
  • ( yesterday, at ... morning, all day, all night):
ex: At 9 PM yesterday, they were playing football.
  • يعبر عن حدث كان مستمراً (حدث طويل) عندما قطعه حدث أخر (حدث قصير)
الحدث الطويل يكون (ماضي مستمر) والحدث الطويل يكون (ماضي بسيط):



ex: He was studying English when the light went out.

ملاحظات هامة
Important notes

1. while / as / just as → past continuous → past simple:

ex: While / as / just as / she was cleaning the room, she found some money.

2. while / as / just as / → past continuous → past continuous:

يستخدم الماضي المستمر مع كلا الحدثين إذا استمرا في وقت واحد (لم يقطع احدهما الاخر):

ex: While / as / just as he was reading, his mother was cooking.


3. when →past simple → past continuous:

ex: When we arrived at the station, my father was waiting.

يمكن أن يأتي بعد when  ماضي مستمر أو ماضي بسيط حسب معنى الجملة ولكن الاشهر هو الماضي البسيط.

إذا لم يأتي فاعل بعد while يوضع بعدها الفعل + ing

4. while + ing :

ex; While watching the match, she fell asleep.

5. During + اسم = while + ماضي مستمر:

ex: During the match, she fell asleep.
